International Gamers Award 2014 für Russian Railroads und Limes

Die Gewinner des International Gamers Award 2014 stehen nun fest. In der Kategorie General Strategy Multi-Player heißt der Sieger Russian Railroads und in der Kategorie General Strategy 2-Player Limes.
Die offizielle Preisverleihung findet in Essen auf der SPIELE 2014 am Donnerstag, dem 16.10.2014 um 13:00 statt (Stand von BGG in Halle 1 D133).

Der Spiele und Spieler Blog gratuliert beiden Gewinnern zum Sieg!

The International Gamers Awards committee is extremely proud to announce the winners of the 2014 IGA in the General Strategy category:

GENERAL STRATEGY - MULTI-PLAYER CATEGORY

RUSSIAN RAILROADS

Publishers: Hans im Glück Verlag / 999 Games / Z-Man Games

In the multi-player category, the award goes to Russian Railroads, the creation of Helmut Ohley and Leonhard Ogler and published by Hans im Glück. In Russian Railroads, players compete in an exciting race to build the largest and most advanced railway network. In order to do so, the players appoint their workers to various important tasks. There are many paths to victory: Who will ride into the future full steam ahead and who will be run off the rails? Whose empire will overcome the challenges ahead and emerge victorious? This is the first IGA for both of the designers, while Hans im Glück has won the award several times in the past.

GENERAL STRATEGY - 2-PLAYER CATEGORY

LIMES

Designer: Martyn F
Publisher: Abacus Spiele

The award in the 2-player category goes to Limes by designer Martyn F and publisher Abacusspiele. Two thousand years ago on the borders of the Roman Empire, life goes on as might be expected. However, barbarians lurk across the border, so not only must the players grow grain in the fields, catch fish, and chop wood, but they must also maintain watchmen in a clever network of watchtowers to keep a lookout for fires and barbarian attacks. The game is based on the designer's popular game Cities, and is a challenging, fast-paced game.
